MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – The leaders of North America didn’t focus on an ongoing dispute over Mexico’s power insurance policies throughout a summit in Mexico Metropolis this week, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador mentioned on Thursday.
“We didn’t focus on that,” Lopez Obrador advised a information convention, noting that the dispute had its personal decision mechanism beneath the United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) commerce settlement.
Washington and Ottawa in July launched dispute settlement proceedings beneath USMCA in opposition to Lopez Obrador’s drive to provide precedence to Mexico’s state-run power firms, arguing the coverage discriminates in opposition to personal U.S. and Canadian companies.
