Farm workday
The Bayside Park Farm at 930 Old Arcata Road in Arcata, will hold a drop-in volunteer workday from 1 to 4 p.m. Show up 15 minutes early to sign paperwork.
Projects thursday May include planting, harvesting and weeding. No experience is important and families are welcome (no pets, please).
Appropriate attire will be shoes that are closed-toe long pants, sleeves and a sunhat. Bring a water bottle and snacks. Pack out trash and recyclables. COVID-19 safety protocols must be followed.
Drop-in volunteering is for individuals, families or friends in groups of five or fewer. Larger groups should contact the farmer on-site to ensure staff that is extra readily available in the workday.
Marsh field trip
The Redwood Region Audubon Society will show a free of charge field that is guided at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
Those attending should bring binoculars and meet trip leader Rob Fowler at the conclusion of South I Street (Klopp Lake) in Arcata to take pleasure from incredible views of Humboldt Bay, easy-to-walk trails as well as a great diversity of birdlife.

Author talk
The Humboldt Asians & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity (HAPI) invites the general public up to a presentation that is free book signing by author Debbie Chinn on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Clarke Historical Museum, 240 E St., Eureka.
Chinn will speak about her recent book, “Dancing inside their Light: A Daughter’s Unfinished Memoir,” which tells the story of “a proud daughter” of immigrant parents, growing up and performing inside her family’s renowned Polynesian nightclub in addition to legacy of her family’s many contributions into the American cultural and international scientific landscape.

Bingo games are played every at the Moose Lodge, 4328 Campton Road, Eureka tuesday. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games start at 6 p.m. A snack bar can be obtained.
Bike rodeo
The city of Arcata will show a“bike that is free Aug. 28 from noon to 4 p.m. at Carlson Park at Valley West, Mad River Parkway E, Arcata.
